Talking about Learning is a blog that discusses topics of teaching and learning in new ways with the assistance of new technology, but never forgetting that learning happens through effective use of tech, not because of it.
I have been working for the last 12 years in post–secondary education. My duties have included Assistant Instructor, Instructor, and Program Head roles for a range of programs in the arena of Digital Arts for the School of Business at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). I typically teach courses in the areas of communications design, graphic arts, and print technology. I help students learn skills in software applications like Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, to teaching them how to run printing presses and book binders.
As the subject matter I teach is usually technologically based to begin with, being able to engage students online and in the classroom using innovative and engaging methods is a big benefit.
